Role: Healthcare Assistant - Acute Medical Ward
Location: London: The Wellington Hospital
Working Hours: Full time: 37.5 hours per week
Contract Type - Permanent

Due to recent expansion, we are seeking highly motivated Healthcare Assistants to join our acute nursing team on our newly opened 14-bed dedicated Acute Medical Ward at The Wellington Hospital-the UK's largest private hospital, rated "Good" by the CQC. This ward supports our on-site Acute Admissions Unit, providing exceptional care to medical patients in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will work closely under the direction of registered nurses, playing a crucial part in delivering outstanding patient care. Your responsibilities will include carrying out observations, investigations, and basic treatments, ensuring patients are comfortable and supported throughout their hospital journey. You will also assist with chaperoning patients, helping medical staff with clinical procedures, and maintaining a clean, safe, and well-stocked ward environment.

In this role, you will greet patients, visitors, consultants, and staff in a professional and welcoming manner, ensuring a positive experience for everyone who enters the ward. Under the supervision of a registered nurse, you will assist with patient care, including assessing basic health indicators and supporting clinical documentation. You will help maintain stock levels, ensuring all necessary equipment is available and used efficiently. Your role also involves ensuring patient dignity, comfort, and privacy are maintained at all times, tailoring care to each individual's needs.

Additionally, you will chaperone patients to appointments as required, communicate clearly with patients and their families, and report any concerns about patient well-being to the nurse in charge. Maintaining strict confidentiality and adhering to hospital protocols is essential, and you will also assist with the decontamination of instruments and clinical equipment to uphold the highest standards of infection control

What you'll bring:

  • Experience in phlebotomy - desirable
  • Healthcare Assistant experience within a hospital setting is desirable
  • NVQ in Health and Social Care is desirable
  • Understanding of The National Early Warning Score (NEWS2)
