We have an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the Primary Care team at HMP Pentonville, a category B male and young offenders prison located in Islington, London with a capacity of nearly 1,200.
This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care. There are lots of opportunities for training and further development!

Hours:

This is a full time role, 37.5 hours per week, and you will work on rotational shifts, including weekends. Shift patterns are 07:30 - 15:00 and 07:30 - 17:00.

Salary:

This position is full time , you'll receive an annual salary up to £28,800 per annum - depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks



What you'll be doing

As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

  • Provide outstanding quality based care to all patients
  • Carry out healthcare duties on the wings and within the healthcare centre
  • Carry out duties such as phlebotomy, observations, ECGs, health screening and detoxification tests
  • Deliver personalised, non judgemental care, based on patient feedback
  • Contribute to, and implement care packages, assist with health promotion, wellbeing and clinics
  • Support the nursing and pharmacy teams in primary care on the wings and healthcare centres

Our new Healthcare Assistant will:
  • Ideally have experience in a care setting, such as a hospital, health clinic or prison
  • Any experience in phlebotomy, ECG tests, health screening etc would be a bonus
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care would be beneficial, but not essential
