Job Description
Job: Senior Medical Secretary | Cardiology
Location: The Harley Street Clinic, 88 Harley Street
Permanent, Full time 37.5 hours per week
Shift times: Monday - Friday 09.00 - 17.00 Monday to Friday and 8-4 on clinic days, usually 1-day per week.
Hybrid working 2 days per week from home, after successful completion of probationary period
Salary: Competitive
An opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled and self -motivated Senior Medical Secretary to join our Cardiology Team based at The Harley Street Clinic. This position reports into the Practice Manager and supports two Cardiologists.
What you'll do:
- Efficiently manage the diaries of two consultants, ensuring seamless scheduling of appointments and commitments.
- Coordinate patient care tasks at the consultants' request, including arranging admissions, requesting investigations, and obtaining test results via hospital data systems. Promptly escalate any abnormal or urgent results for immediate attention.
- Act as the primary point of contact for sensitive telephone inquiries from patients, families, General Practitioners, nursing staff, consultants, and external healthcare professionals, handling all interactions with professionalism and discretion.
- Maintain accurate and organized patient records, ensuring proper filing of case notes and the preparation of relevant clinic documents ahead of outpatient appointments.
- Collaborate closely with the Practice Manager to support a cohesive and efficient team environment.
- Provide cross-cover support during holiday periods to ensure the continuity of administrative and patient care services.
- Manage billing and invoicing processes, ensuring accurate and timely charges for patients and insurance companies.
- Previous Medical Secretarial experience.
- Cardiology experience is essential.
- Significant understanding of Medical terminology.
- Strong, accurate typing skills are essential.
- Computer literacy.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience working with DGL, Carebit & Meditech
